The U wave is a wave that follows the T wave. It is believed to represent the repolarization of the papillary muscles and Purkinje fibers.
Prominent U waves may be seen in patients with:
- Hypokalemia
- Hypercalcemia
- Thyrotoxicosis
- Exposure to digitalis
- Congenital long QT syndrome
