The U wave is a wave that follows the T wave. It is believed to represent the repolarization of the papillary muscles and Purkinje fibers.

Prominent U waves may be seen in patients with:

  • Hypokalemia
  • Hypercalcemia
  • Thyrotoxicosis
  • Exposure to digitalis
  • Congenital long QT syndrome

Note: If you have a green strip ECG with a good U wave please contact me at support@learntheecg.com
